RS485 & SIL Console — live diagnostic view
The RS485 port is a dedicated supervision link to SAS SIL Console for Encoder Bridges. Encoder telegrams, conversion status, and bridge health are exposed in real time — independently of the production output to your PLC or CNC.
Acceptance & commissioning. During FAT, SAT, and line prove-out, engineers can trace the full signal path: raw protocol frames, CRC results, resolved position, index events, and fault flags — in one session, without tapping the machine interface or adding external analyzers.
- CRC status — frame and telegram integrity
- Protocol binary — raw encoder frame view
- Absolute position — resolved position value
- Error & alarm flags — fault and warning status
- Z counter — index and reference mark events
- Turn / revolution counter — multi-turn count
- Line speed — RS485 link baud rate and comms status
- Bridge operating status — power, mode and readiness
- Encoder link quality — input signal health
- Frame sequence counter — telegram sequence tracking
- Cycle time — update interval and processing latency
All parameters above are available through SIL Console over RS485. No additional diagnostic channel or register configuration is required on the bridge — specify RS485 where acceptance testing needs documented encoder-path verification.
