Does it replace encoder selection?

No. Protocol, mechanical fit, temperature and the controller interface still decide the encoder. This tool is for resolution only.

Need a protocol converter after sizing?

If the encoder signal does not match the CNC or drive, see the Encoder Bridge or send nameplate photos with a proposal request.
